Lubbock County Appraisal District CAD 2026

Lubbock County, Texas · Property search, tax bills, GIS maps, exemptions, protests and deeds

Follow a Lubbock Property From High Plains Parcel Search to Paid Tax Receipt

Lubbock Central Appraisal District is unusually important because it does more than appraise property. LCAD maintains the appraisal record, administers exemptions and protests, issues annual property-tax bills and receives property-tax payments.

Use the same official property account to review values, Bills, Payment History, Map and Ag Rollback information. Use the Lubbock County Clerk separately when you need deeds, liens, easements, plats or certified land records.

Property ID CAD ID Owner or business name Street and city Subdivision or abstract Correct tax year
HIGH PLAINS PROPERTY GRID VERIFYING
SEARCH → VERIFY → PAY → SAVE
Important Lubbock County difference: the Lubbock County Tax Assessor-Collector does not collect property taxes. Lubbock Central Appraisal District issues property-tax bills and receives property-tax payments. The county Tax Office mainly handles motor-vehicle and other statutory tax-office services.

Lubbock Central Appraisal District advanced search with Property ID, CAD ID, owner information and legal-description fields
This image from the existing article is retained because it clearly shows LCAD’s advanced-search groups. The live portal should always be used for current property, value, exemption and tax information.

Use Property ID, CAD ID, street, city, ZIP, neighbourhood or property type.

2 Owner information

Search an individual owner, business name or Owner ID.

3 Legal description

Use subdivision code or name, block, tract, lot or acreage.

4 Status and year

Choose active, inactive or all and select the correct tax year.

Match owner, situs, legal, property type, assessed value and market value.

GIS and downloadable maps

Use Lubbock CAD maps for parcel context, not legal boundaries

The interactive GIS map is useful for locating parcels, comparing neighbouring property and checking city-edge or rural land. LCAD also publishes map sheets, a county section reference, a 2026 geodatabase and a 2026 shapefile for more advanced research.

Interactive GIS

Locate a parcel and compare roads, nearby accounts, neighbourhood context and land patterns.

City and county maps

Official files include Lubbock County sections and maps for communities such as Idalou, New Deal, Shallowater, Slaton, Wolfforth and Ransom Canyon.

2026 spatial data

The map library includes 2026 GDB and shapefile resources for users who work with GIS software.

Do not use the GIS line as a final fence, access or title decision. Verify important boundaries with the recorded deed, plat, title documents and a licensed surveyor.
Property-detail navigation

D Details

Owner, location, legal description, value, exemptions, entities and property characteristics.

B Bills

A Ag Rollback

Applicable agricultural-use change or rollback information connected with the account.

Mobile navigation: the property tabs may appear inside a dropdown rather than across the top of the page. Choose Property Bills when paying from a phone.
Record-field decoder

Understand what each Lubbock CAD field means

Use each field as a route to the next official action
Field What it helps identify What it does not prove Next action
Property ID The appraisal property record within LCAD. That every external record uses the same identifier. Use it for search, bills, exemption and protest questions.
CAD ID Another district identifier useful in advanced research. Legal ownership or exact boundary location. Save it with the Property ID before calling.
Owner name The owner carried for appraisal and tax administration. Clear legal title or absence of liens. Search County Clerk records when title matters.
Situs address The physical property location used in the LCAD account. The owner mailing address or legal description. Compare it with the parcel map and deed.
Legal description The abstract, subdivision, block, tract or lot carried by LCAD. That the shortened description is adequate for a deed. Verify the recorded document.
Property type Real, manufactured-home, natural-resource or personal-property classification. That no related account exists. Search all relevant types.
Market value LCAD’s opinion of market value as of January 1. A guaranteed selling price or final tax bill. Review comparable and condition evidence.
Assessed value Value after an applicable cap, limitation or special appraisal. The final taxable value for every entity. Review exemption and entity lines.
Taxable value Value remaining after exemptions for a taxing entity. The current amount due or payment status. Open Bills and Payment History.
Receipt number A posted LCAD tax-payment transaction. That every separate account was paid. Match the receipt to the property and tax year.
Value explanation

Separate market value, assessed value and taxable value

STEP 1 Market value

LCAD’s opinion of what the property would sell for under normal market conditions as of January 1.

STEP 2 Assessed value

The value after an applicable homestead cap, circuit-breaker limitation or special appraisal.

STEP 3 Taxable value

The value remaining after exemptions for each county, school, city or special district.

Do not multiply market value by one tax rate and assume that is the bill. Each taxing entity can have a different taxable value, exemption, ceiling and adopted rate.
The property page may show a homestead-cap loss or circuit-breaker-limit loss. These figures explain why assessed value can be lower than market value, subject to statutory eligibility and new-improvement rules.
Official tax-estimate tool

Use the LCAD 2026 tax estimator without treating it as a bill

Open the official Tax Estimator Open Lubbock CAD Tax Estimator
Search and select the property The estimator can fill the property value and taxing units from the selected account.
Review the estimated 2026 value Replace it with a custom value only when testing a documented purchase price, protest target or planning scenario.
Confirm every taxing unit Check county, school, city and applicable special districts rather than accepting the wrong jurisdiction.
Select exemptions manually LCAD warns that exemptions are not automatically populated and reset after a new search.
Treat the result as an estimate Confirm final taxable values, adopted rates, special assessments and the issued tax bill before paying.
Public improvement districts: LCAD directs users to contact the district for special-assessment estimates involving Vintage Township, Highland Oaks, Wolfforth PID No. 2 in Preston Manor and Wolfforth PID No. 3 in Harvest.
Search troubleshooting

Fix a missing or incorrect Lubbock CAD search result

Try the next method before assuming no account exists
Problem Likely reason Practical fix
Owner name returns too many records The surname is common or ownership is held by a business, trust or estate. Add the street, city, Property ID, CAD ID or legal information.
Address returns no result Directional, unit, city or suffix formatting differs. Use the street number and street name only.
Wolfforth or city-edge property is missing The mailing city and taxing jurisdiction may not match. Search without the city and verify GIS and taxing entities.
Manufactured home does not appear The search may be limited to Real Property. Select Manufactured Home and search the owner and situs.
Business account is missing Business personal property is separate from the building or land. Select Personal Property and search the business name.
Rural acreage is difficult to locate The account may use an abstract, subdivision, block, lot or acreage instead of a normal address. Use Advanced Search and GIS.
Recently purchased property shows the seller The deed may not have completed processing into LCAD. Verify the Clerk recording and save the reception number.
Bill looks higher than expected Exemptions, taxing entities, penalties, interest or prior payments differ. Open Bills and Payment History and compare every entity.
GIS line and survey differ The CAD map is not a legal survey. Use the deed, plat and survey for legal boundaries.
LCAD call script
I am researching Property ID [number] and CAD ID [number] for tax year [year]. The property is at [situs or legal description]. The record currently shows [missing or incorrect detail]. I need help with [search, value, exemption, bill, payment or protest]. Which document or screen should I provide?
Lubbock County situations

Local search tips for urban, suburban, rural and special-property accounts

City of Lubbock home

Verify Lubbock ISD or Lubbock-Cooper ISD, city, hospital, county and High Plains Water entities.

Wolfforth or Frenship property

Check the city, Frenship ISD and any public improvement district assessment separately.

Shallowater, Idalou or New Deal

Confirm city and school entities because a postal city does not always prove the exact taxing boundary.

Slaton-area property

Review the selected city, school district, county, hospital and water-district lines.

Ransom Canyon or Buffalo Springs area

Use GIS and map files to verify parcel location, roads and neighbouring accounts before relying on the mailing address.

Rural agricultural land

Check acreage, market value, productivity value, land use and Ag Rollback information.

Manufactured home

Search the Manufactured Home type and determine whether the land and home have separate ownership or accounts.

Natural-resource account

Select Natural Resource and verify the owner, property type, legal description and tax year.

Commercial or industrial property

Review the real property, business-personal-property assets, inventory and any separate special assessment.

Office routing

Use LCAD, the County Tax Office and County Clerk correctly

Lubbock CAD

Use for property search, appraisal values, exemptions, agricultural appraisal, protests, property-tax bills, tax payments, receipts and delinquent property-tax questions.

County Tax Assessor-Collector

Use for motor-vehicle registration, vehicle titles and other county Tax Office duties. This office does not collect Lubbock County property taxes.

Lubbock County Clerk

Use for deeds, deeds of trust, liens, releases, easements, plats, reception numbers, certified copies and recorded document history.

Do not send a Lubbock property-tax payment to the County Tax Assessor-Collector. Follow the LCAD bill and payment instructions unless an official statement specifically directs otherwise.
Account corrections

Correct the record before the error causes another problem

Incorrect owner name Verify the recorded deed or ownership document and ask LCAD what evidence is required to update the appraisal account.
Incorrect mailing address Submit the current address-change information to LCAD so notices and bills reach the correct address.
Incorrect square footage or improvement Prepare measurements, plans, permits, photographs or other evidence showing the physical error.
Incorrect land or legal information Compare the LCAD account with the deed, plat and survey before requesting a correction.
Missing exemption Check whether the application was submitted, approved and applied to the correct tax year and taxing entities.
Incorrect payment or balance Provide LCAD Collections with the confirmation number, receipt, payment date, amount and Property ID.
Correction versus protest: a correction fixes inaccurate data or posting. A protest challenges an appraisal-district action and must be filed by the applicable deadline.
Online and paper filing

Apply for a Lubbock homestead exemption without paying a filing company

There is no LCAD fee to apply for an exemption. Be cautious of companies offering to file a homestead exemption for a processing fee.
Locate the property in the official search Open the correct property-detail page and verify the owner, address and Property ID.
Select the HS Exemption link or flag The option appears near the top-right of the property-detail page.
Review the partially completed Form 50-114 Confirm every prefilled owner and property detail before answering the remaining questions.
Read every yes-or-no question LCAD warns that several questions default to “No” even when the correct answer may be “Yes.”
Enter the previous residence address Complete the requested prior-address information near the end of the first form section.
Upload identification and supporting evidence A driver licence address generally must match the homestead address unless a statutory alternative or affidavit applies.
Correct all error messages Incomplete applications can be rejected. Review attachments and required evidence before signing.
Submit and save confirmation Keep the electronic confirmation and later verify the exemption on the property account.
General homestead

The property must be owned and used as the applicant’s principal residence, subject to current statutory requirements.

Age 65 or older

Review the additional exemption, applicable school-tax ceiling and supporting identification.

Disabled person

Prepare the required Social Security disability-benefit evidence or other qualifying documentation.

Disabled veteran

Attach current Veterans Administration documentation for the exemption category claimed.

Surviving spouse

Use the correct surviving-spouse application and provide ownership, age or service-related evidence.

Late homestead filing

LCAD states that a late homestead exemption may be filed up to two years after the taxes become delinquent.

Agricultural and open-space land

Review Lubbock agricultural valuation and rollback information

Open-space agricultural appraisal is based on qualifying agricultural use and history, not simply the number of acres owned. The property-detail page may also provide an Ag Rollback tab for applicable land-use change information.

Prepare the evidence that matches the land’s use
Land situation What to review Evidence to prepare
Crop or cotton production Acreage, qualifying use, productivity value and history. Production records, leases, maps, invoices and photographs.
Grazing or livestock Intensity, acreage, carrying use and management history. Livestock records, leases, feed or veterinary records and maps.
Mixed homesite and farmland Qualified acreage versus residence or non-agricultural area. Survey or map separating the different uses.
Use change or development Ag Rollback information and possible additional tax. Current qualification, proposed use, dates and development documents.
Lease-based farming Actual use, lease terms and continuity. Signed leases, payment records, production history and photographs.
Do not change the use of specially appraised land without checking the tax consequences. Ask LCAD about the account’s current agricultural status and any rollback or additional-tax exposure.
Business personal property

Search and render Lubbock business property separately from real estate

What must be rendered

Income-producing tangible personal property can include furniture, fixtures, equipment, machinery, computers, inventory, raw materials and work in process.

Normal rendition deadline

LCAD states that renditions are due on or before April 15.

Extension route

A timely written request extends the deadline to May 15. The chief appraiser may grant another 15 days for good cause shown in writing.

Failure-to-file penalty

LCAD warns that an account can be subject to a 10% penalty when a required rendition is not filed.

Freeport application

The normal deadline is April 30. LCAD describes a June 15 late-filing cutoff with a 10% penalty when a late application is approved.

Confidential information

Rendition information is generally confidential under the limits and exceptions described in the Texas Property Tax Code.

Business name and owner ID
Property ID and current tax year
Physical business location
Asset category and description
Original cost and acquisition year
Inventory and work-in-process records
Closed, sold or moved-business details
Filing confirmation or certified-mail proof
Inquiry, protest and ARB

Prepare a Lubbock CAD protest around one documented issue

Normal deadline: May 15 or 30 days after the appraisal notice was mailed. The exact deadline printed on the individual notice controls.
Save the notice and full LCAD record Keep the property identifiers, value pages, property characteristics, exemptions, map and prior-year information.
Choose the exact protest ground Focus on market value, unequal appraisal, incorrect property information, denied exemption, special-appraisal issue or another protestable action.
Use LCAD’s online inquiry/protest process The district describes online filing as the fastest and easiest way to initiate and manage the case. Open LCAD Protest Information
Protect the filing deadline Submit the protest before waiting for every photograph, estimate or comparable to be perfect.
Save filing confirmation Keep the portal timestamp, email, fax record, certified-mail receipt or stamped copy.
Build issue-specific evidence Use comparable sales, recent purchase documents, photographs, repair estimates, surveys, plans, permits or unequal-appraisal evidence.
Review the district evidence Compare LCAD’s property facts, sales, neighbourhood, schedules and adjustments with your own documentation.
Use the correct hearing method Review the current in-person, teleconference, videoconference or affidavit procedures before the scheduled hearing.
Present the requested result first State the proposed value or correction and then show the strongest supporting evidence.
Preserve the final ARB order Review any available arbitration, court or other appeal deadline immediately after receiving the order.

Evidence that directly supports a protest

Notice of Appraised Value
Saved property-detail and map pages
One-page requested value or correction
Comparable-sales table
Unequal-appraisal comparison
Dated condition photographs
Repair estimates or professional reports
Survey, plan or measurement evidence
Purchase and closing documents
Copy of LCAD’s evidence packet
Arguing only that the tax bill is too high is usually not enough. Tax rates are adopted by taxing units. The protest should explain why an appraisal-district value, classification, exemption or property fact is incorrect.

Qualified homeowners may defer residence-homestead taxes while they own and occupy the home.

Deferral is not forgiveness

Deferred tax, penalty and interest remain owed and become due after the property no longer qualifies under the statutory rules.

Public information requests

Use LCAD’s designated public-information request contact when identifiable records are not available online.

Recorded land documents

Use the Lubbock County Clerk for deeds, liens and legal document history

LCAD’s owner and legal-description fields are appraisal records. The Lubbock County Clerk’s real-property records are the correct starting point for recorded deeds, deeds of trust, liens, releases, easements and other instruments.

Call before ordering copies The Real Property department asks users to call 806-775-1062 with the document number or volume and page to verify cost.

Choose your main reason for visiting. The tool will show the best next step and quick estimate.

Homeowners

Use this tool to check your appraisal notice, exemption savings, protest value, and official next step.

Buyers and investors

Use the tax calculator before trusting only the sale price or mortgage estimate.

Property Search Helper

Use this when a county property search portal is confusing. It shows which search method is usually best.

Property Tax Estimate Calculator

Estimate annual property tax using appraised value, assessment ratio, exemptions, and combined tax rate.

Homestead and Exemption Savings

Estimate how much a homestead, senior, disability, veteran, or local exemption may reduce tax.

Appraisal Notice Review

Compare last year value with this year value and see whether the increase deserves closer review.

Property Tax Protest Savings

Estimate possible savings if your appraised value is reduced after protest, correction, evidence review, or appraisal review board hearing.

Property Tax Protest and Exemption Checklist

Use this checklist before you file a protest, apply for exemption, or call the appraisal district.

Useful tip

Before calling, write your property ID, owner name, property address, and question on paper. It saves time.

Common mistake

Do not call the CAD to pay tax bills unless the local article says they collect taxes. In many counties, the tax office collects payment.

Official Resource Finder

Enter county and state to create safe searches for official CAD pages, property search, tax payment, exemptions, maps, forms, and protest help.

CAD vs Tax Office

  • Appraisal District: value, exemptions, ownership records, maps, protest.
  • Tax Office: tax bill, payment, receipt, delinquent balance, penalty.

Best place to use this

Add this tool after the first major content section or before the FAQ area. It gives visitors a reason to interact before leaving the page.

Important estimate note

This tool gives educational estimates only. Final values, exemptions, tax rates, bills, payments, and deadlines must be confirmed with official county sources.
